A Step Ahead Chattanooga is a non-profit that increases contraception awareness and access across 17 counties in the southeastern United States. To celebrate their ten-year anniversary, they hired me to create a brand identity and accompanying illustrations for a Silent Disco event that spans across the decades of music.

Logo
The work that A Step Ahead Chattanooga engages in is important, life-changing work. This event, however is celebratory of all of the impact that the organization has made since their inception. Utilizing and expanding on their established brand colors, I explored playful typography that would speak to some of the various eras of music that would be featured.


Ultimately, we settled on this version which retains some of the rounded forms seen throughout A Step Ahead Chattanooga's branding, while incorporating some new elements, including a halftone effect.


I expanded on the look of the event by creating a few backgrounds, defining the typography style, and also providing some music-themed icons that could be sprinkled throughout their content. We blended some vintage components with the brand's fresh colors.


Character Illustrations
To accompany the branding, I also created six different characters that each represented a different era of music. There is a record, cassette, CD, 8-track, mp3 player, and phone. Each character utilized a brand color as well as the half-tone pattern used in the logo. These characters may be used for social media posts and shirts for the event.
